Getting ready for round 2

So after a set of good results for Team PHC at the first Pearce Down Hill race of the season, Hilly, Mush and Spence headed up to Bringewood for a Team Day practice sadly Robin is still waiting on a new bike so he couldn’t make it. We were lucky enough to be granted absolutely glorious weather making the riding so much quicker and my job of photography so much easier.

We started down the track with the Triple going on to the fire road; Hilly was absolutely set on sending a one hander over the triple so he could point down the camera lens, but did he? Not even a little one hander but I could tell he wanted too. I think as a compromise Hilly decided to just keep sending it so much higher than Mush or Spence.

As an ex rider myself I have been to Bringewood once or twice in my youth, but I simply couldn’t believe how different the once called ‘motorway’ section looked and the section above it, the one just after the triple. All three riders had both these sections absolutely pinned.

All in all Team PHC had a great day riding and I had a great day reminiscing about the old days and snapping away at the lads.

Pearce DH series Round 1 Hopton Results

Mike takes the win in Junior, good results for Tom and Matt and Robin gets second in Juvenile.

After a dry dusty practice day on Saturday the bikes came back to the workshop with only a light covering of dust Saturday night. Hill had done his best to re-shape his rear wheel and Robin's rear derailleur had lost all ability to change gear so we had a little fettling to do to get race ready.

Race day came and so did the rain, hail and wind. Robin had a big off in his first run destroying his brake but somehow sourced a loan brake and went back up the hill to take 44 seconds off his first run and take second place despite getting held up in traffic.

In Junior Matt, Tom and Mike put in good runs to finish 29th, 20th and 1st. Mike set the fastest time in run one and then following the rain went up the hill to take another 2 seconds off his time to hold on the 1st place and 23rd fastest time on the day only 15.5 seconds off world cup racer Mark Beaumont.

A good start to the season for team PHC, bring on round two although we are going to need more team kit if the mud continues.
